Anatomical Gift Donee Eligibility
Pennsylvania defines five categories of permitted donees, as well as the
uses each type of donee may make of an
anatomical gift.
1. Donee: Any hospital, surgeon, or physician.
Use: Medical or dental education, research, advancement of medical or dental
science, therapy or transplantation.
2. Donee: Any accredited medical or dental school, college or university.
Use: Education, research, advancement of medical or dental science or
therapy.
3. Donee: Any bank or storage facility.
Use: Medical or dental education, research, advancement of medical or dental
science, therapy or transplantation.
4. Donee: Any specified individual.
Use: Therapy or transplantation needed by him or her.
5. Donee: The Humanity Gifts Registry.
Use: No uses specified.
Any person or entity that is within
one of these categories may be designated as the donee of the anatomical
gifts. However, it is not necessary to designate a specific donee.
