Anatomical Gift Donee Selection
Donors may choose any specific person or
entity to receive the anatomical gifts being made by the
Anatomical Gift Directive.
However, any individually selected donee must be eligible to receive
anatomical gifts according to Pennsylvania law. For instance, a person may
only be the donee of gifts that are needed for therapy or transplantation by
that specific person; and only medical schools that are accredited have
authorization to accept anatomical gifts.
You are not required to name any individual donees. Choosing to make
anatomical gifts without designating a specific donee allows your
attending physician to accept the gifts that are made by your Anatomical
Gift Directive for appropriate distribution.
