Alternate Beneficiaries, Eligibility
Any person or entity may be named as
an alternate beneficiary of your
residuary estate or the
alternate beneficiary of a
specific gift.
You may also choose any number of alternate beneficiaries who will share any
property from your residuary estate that is not given to a
primary beneficiary.
Note, however, if you create a will
that gives your spouse less than one-third of your estate, your spouse may
choose to take the elective share
provided by Pennsylvania and defeat the intentions of your will.
