Executor, Eligibility
Any competent adult who is at least 18 years of age may serve as an
executor. An executor is not
required to have a family relationship with you and is also not required to
be a Pennsylvania resident.
In addition to people, an entity,
such as a bank, may also serve provided the entity is authorized to act as a
fiduciary in Pennsylvania. Note that each entity has different
standards for accepting the role of executor, such as the estimated
compensation or complexity of the estate.
If you are considering naming an executor who is not a
natural person, you may wish
to contact that entity beforehand to determine its eligibility and
willingness to serve in that capacity.
