Guardian, Role and Duties
The
guardian of the person for any minor
generally takes custody of that child and is legally responsible for the
child's daily care.
One of the main distinctions of this position is the guardian's legal duty
with respect to the child. Unlike others, a guardian of the person has a
legal obligation to ensure and provide for the minor's welfare and general
well-being. In addition to providing for the minor's daily needs, this
legal duty also requires the guardian to take action that will prevent or
remedy any harm that is known to the guardian.
