Collateral Heir
Any person who has a family relationship with a decedent, but not as a descendant or an ascendant. This includes siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A collateral heir should not be confused with members of the collateral class for purposes of Pennsylvania inheritance tax rates.
