Entireties Property
An abbreviated phrase for property owned as tenancy by the entireties.

This is a unique form of joint property ownership that can only be formed between spouses, offering the same quality of undivided ownership and right of survivorship found with joint tenancy with the right of survivorship.

It differs from all other forms of joint ownership in that neither spouse may take any action with the property, such as granting a mortgage, without the consent of both spouses.

Property owned in this manner is automatically owned as a tenancy in common upon divorce.
