Involuntary Commitment
A person who is severely mentally disabled and in need of immediate treatment may be required to undergo emergency examination and treatment under Section 7302 of Pennsylvania's "Mental Health Procedures Act."
This is known as an "Involuntary Commitment" and, when performed with the authority of a government official, is more commonly referred to as a "302." This type of commitment may not initially exceed 120 hours.
