Living Will
A legal document that instructs health care providers to withhold life-sustaining treatment if the principal becomes incompetent and has an end-stage medical condition or is incompetent and permanently unconscious.
In addition to this general instruction, a Living Will may also give the principal's instructions for specific forms of treatment and may also appoint a health care representative.
Also known as an "Advance Health Care Directive" and "Advance Directive For Health Care."
