Spendthrift Trust
A type of protective trust that restricts the
trust beneficiary's ability to assign any of
that beneficiary's rights to the
trust property or trust income, which also prevents most creditor's from
accessing the trust for payment of the trust beneficiary's debts.
Self-settled trusts are not permitted to be spendthrift trusts.
