Tenancy by the Entireties
A unique form of joint
property ownership that can only be formed between spouses.
It offers the same quality of undivided
ownership and
right of survivorship
found with a joint tenancy with the right
of survivorship.
However, it also limits each spouse's ability to act independently with the
property. For instance, neither spouse is permitted to grant a mortgage
without the other spouse joining in the act or otherwise consenting.
