Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax, Generally
The Pennsylvania inheritance tax
is a separate tax that is owed in addition to any
federal estate tax that may
be due.
Unlike the Federal estate tax, Pennsylvania's inheritance tax is not based
upon the value of the decedent's
estate. The Pennsylvania
inheritance tax is based upon the value of the property transferred from the
estate and the relationship of the property's recipient with the decedent.
